Biology
Edit
On Earth, Archaeopteryx is considered one of the earliest known birds, a group which by scientific concensus is believed to have evolved from small feathered theropods. Archaeoptryx lived during the Jurassic Period and was most likely not capable of powered flight but rather climbed and glided from tree to tree. This bird is famous for its clawed wings and toothed beak - both characteristic traits of early birds which betray their reptilian origin, and are mostly absent from modern birds. Archaeopteryx was most likely a carnivore which preyed on insects and other small animals.
The FMM-UV 32 Archaeopteryx seems misplaced; it is native to the cold-climated Arctic Sector, unlike its Earth namesake which inhabited forests and jungles on tropical islands. It is also fully capable of powered flight, unlike its Earth counterpart.
Official Appearances
Edit
Archaeopteryx is one of the ambient animals in Carnivores: Ice Age. It is the only aerial ambient in the game. In the game, its name was miss-spelled as "Archeopterics" instead of "Archaeopteryx". This was corrected in Carnivores: Ice Age Mobile.
Other Appearances
Edit
- Archaeopteryx was one of the two aerial ambients in Dragon Quest, the other being with Dimorphodon.
- A reskinned Archaeopteryx, titled "Protoavis", was an ambient in the early 2007 release of Carnivores Triassic. It has been discontinued in the 2012 release.
Trivia
Edit
- Since the Archaeopteryx model shares the same number and order of animations as the Dimorphodon and Pteranodon, it can be used to replace any of them via RES editing to allow for a more Earth-like Archaeopteryx which lives alongside the dinosaurs rather than Cenozoic mammals.
